SHORE SAILS HISTORY

Ben Green started the company in 1986 after being responsible for sail design at two international sail lofts manufacturing all sails from one design, cruising to Admirals Cup and Whitbread Round the World racers.

The company's first racing projects were for the 1987 Admirals Cup supplying sails to 3 competitors including 2 yachts in the British team, at this time we developed  the first of what would become the code O type minimum area ultra flat spinnaker.

With the decline in Admirals cup racing in the early 1990s the company started to specialize in sail graphics to meet the demand from commercially sponsored yachts.

These included the Whitbread / Volvo / Challenge race boats,

Developing  techniques for applying the logos that still haven't been improved upon. We supply most of the sailmakers in the area when required.

We arrived at our current loft at Moodys Marina Swanwick in 1995, with the marina being a start point for many blue water cruises. Attention has focused on large custom built cruising sails tailored to there specialized sail handling systems.
